Built in 1909, Verzenay lighthouse is a curiosity in the lands of Champagne. Overlooking a “sea of vineyards”, it was designed by Joseph Goulet to promote its own brand of Champagne in an original way. But the Gilded Age ended with the war.
The lighthouse was used as an observation tower for the French soldiers. After the war it was left abandoned… In 1987, the municipality of Verzenay purchased the lighthouse and prevent it from collapsing. Finally, a project dedicated to tourism was developed. In 1999, the Vineyard Museum was created. Nowadays, Verzenay lighthouse offers an incredible view, various exhibitions and a tasting room. We are sure you will have a fantastic time!
